Founding Story

The word “meuf” originates from “femme,” the French word meaning “woman.” Characteristic of French verlan slang, the syllables of “femme” were phonetically inverted to become “meuf,” meaning “girl,” “woman,” or “girlfriend.” MEUF exists as a salon of creatives, who, harkening back to the Enlightenment era French spirit of exchanging intellectual ideas, seek to establish third spaces within each other. MEUF is not just a publication, it is a community in which femininity is safeguarded and shown under a fresh light.

MEUF is a New York City-based magazine dedicated to exploring femininity through collective discourse, artistic expression, and storytelling.
